Academic rigor and pragmatic instruction

Our courses are designed to ensure that students acquire the knowledge and skills needed to be effective in a variety of work environments.

Faculty members are recognized leaders in the field of gerontology and are also active practitioners. They draw on their own professional experiences with older adults and families to explain and illustrate key concepts, ensuring that the learning experience is rich, engaging and relevant in the workplace.

Specifically for working professionals

Brookdale’s course offerings and three Certificate Programs – Aging, Aging and Mental Health, and Geriatric Care Management – are practical and affordable ways for working professionals to expand and deepen their knowledge and skills in the rapidly evolving field of gerontology.

Designed to accommodate busy working professionals, classes are held in the evenings; students can take individual courses without enrolling in a Certificate Program; and each of the three Certificate Programs can be completed at the student’s own pace.
