Legal Resources

Brookdale does not provide any direct legal services.

Those wishing to obtain legal support for older adults can find many useful resources at the Department for the Aging website, including a link on how to find providers of the federally-funded Legal Services for the Elderly.

The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) provides a searchable database of attorneys specializing in elder law throughout the U.S., and also has resources for attorneys.

The Legal Aid Society provides free legal services to low-income individuals and families in New York City.

Older adults at risk for eviction from their homes can receive free legal and social service assistance from the City’s Assigned Counsel Project (ACP), a joint initiative of the Department for the Aging and the New York City Civil Court.

If you are concerned about possible elder financial exploitation, you can contact your local Adult Protective Services Intake office.
