Brookdale’s director of strategic policy initiatives, christian gonzález-rivera, in his capacity as immediate past-president of the State Society on Aging (SSA) of New York, moderated a Town Hall discussion on October 19. The event featured Greg Olsen, acting commissioner of the New York State Office for the Aging; Bob Blancato, national coordinator for the Elder Justice Coalition; Becky Preve, director of the Association on Aging in New York; Allison Nickerson, director of LiveOn NY; and Anderson Torres, CEO of R.A.I.N. Total Care.
The conversation focused on how government addressed the needs of providers of services for older adults throughout the pandemic. The discussion lifted up the policies, administrative protocols, and standing investments that ought to be in place in order to prepare for future emergencies.
