Yiyi Wu, research associate, presented a research paper titled “Facilitators and Barriers to Health Information: Implications for Digital Health App Design for Underserved” at the 75th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association in Denver on June 15. She presented the paper as part of the Community-Engaged Research Panel moderated by Dr. Jeff Niederdeppe from Cornell’s School of Communication. Wu emphasized the importance of developing digital-based interventions to address the persistent disparities in health information access experienced by underserved immigrant populations. She also discussed the critical need for designers to create digital features and platforms that intentionally confront underlying structural inequalities beyond information delivery.
In addition to her role as a Brookdale researcher, Wu is a PhD student at Rutgers School of Communication and Information, primarily led by Dr. Charles Senteio. This project is a part of her work at Rutgers.
