Brookdale’s executive director, Ruth Finkelstein, has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI). NASI is a membership organization of more than 1,300 leaders across the social insurance ecosystem, known as the “stewards of social insurance.”
Dr. Finkelstein was a codirector of the New York Retirement and Disability Research Center (NYRDRC), funded by the Social Security Administration. Until it was terminated in February 2025, along with all the other national RDRCs, the research center had the mission of identifying “barriers that disadvantage and exclude people in social insurance programs, thereby impacting well-being throughout the life course.” Dr. Finkelstein coedited the Fall 2025 issue of Generations Journal, which features work from the NYRDRC.
