Cicely specializes in community-based research, focusing on cancer health disparities through collaborations with organizations in Harlem, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. At Hunter College’s Center for Cancer Health Disparities Research, she has explored the relationship between cancer and aging in minority communities. Her work under the Hunter College/Temple University U54 Partnership included studies supported by a pilot award and an NIH Diversity Supplement. Previously, she was Director of Research and Programming at HOPE Center Harlem and Associate Executive Director for Research and Training at the Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health. Dr. Johnson has researched various health issues, including cancer, asthma, diabetes, and social determinants of health, and has taught sociology, psychology, and criminology at several colleges. She holds extensive experience in community-based participatory research and health disparities intervention programs.
