Jasmine Manalel is a social-behavioral scientist whose research centers on close relations and health across the lifespan, with a focus on adult development and aging. Prior to joining Brookdale, Dr. Manalel completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Social and Behavioral Research Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) of NIH. Dr. Manalel has received multiple awards in recognition of her research, including the 2020 NHGRI Intramural Research Award and the 2018 Gerontological Society of America Student Research Award. Her scientific contributions have resulted in several peer-reviewed publications in leading journals. Recently, Dr. Manalel was awarded a K01 Career Development Award from the National Institute on Aging at NIH. This award provides funding for her current line of work on the informal care and support networks of older women living with HIV, the Care Resources of Older Women's Networks (CROWN) Study. Dr. Manalel obtained her BA in biology and psychology from the University of Virginia, and her MS and PhD in developmental psychology from the University of Michigan.
