Jennie Kaufman’s work involves qualitative and quantitative research and the dissemination of findings through reports and peer-reviewed scientific papers. She is currently project director for a qualitative study on health care engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic among people with HIV and is part of a study on the role insurance plays in financial security for Social Security disability applicants. She is also involved in an evaluation of a “data-to-care” intervention using pharmacy claims data to promptly reach persons with HIV who have not filled their antiretroviral prescriptions. She is a co-editor of the volume Aging with HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa (Springer, 2022). Previously, she was project director for a study on perspectives on weight among people with HIV on antiretroviral medication, and in 2019 she was project coordinator for Brookdale's study of the NYC Creative Aging Initiative. Before joining Brookdale, Jennie was a senior editor at MDRC, a nonprofit education and social policy research organization. She has also been a helpline volunteer at the Medicare Rights Center. Jennie received her BA in liberal arts from the New School for Public Engagement and an MPH in health policy and management from the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, where she conducted research on family caregiving and the economic effects of dementia.
