Jennie Kaufman conducts qualitative and quantitative research on health services and economic security among older adults. She is currently involved in an evaluation of a “data-to-care” intervention using pharmacy claims data to promptly reach persons with HIV who have not filled their antiretroviral prescriptions. She has also been studying the home care needs and sources of care among disabled older workers. Previously, she conducted qualitative research on health care engagement during the COVID-19 pandemic among people with HIV, and on perspectives on weight among people with HIV on antiretroviral medication. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and she is a co-editor of the volume Aging with HIV in Sub-Saharan Africa (Springer, 2022). Before joining Brookdale, Jennie was a senior editor at MDRC, a nonprofit education and social policy research organization. She was also a helpline volunteer at the Medicare Rights Center. Jennie received her BA in liberal arts from the New School for Public Engagement and an MPH in health policy and management from the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, where she conducted research on family caregiving and the economic effects of dementia.
