More people over age 65 are working in the U.S. than ever before. Even following the pandemic’s job losses and early retirements, there are 10.4 million people older than 65 working in this country. But what does this mean? The data brings us to Goldilocks’ question: Is the current number of older workers too many? Too few? Or just right?

This commentary in the American Society on Aging’s Generations Today publication considers three dramatically different narratives about older workers.
