Aging services network should be central to vaccine distribution strategy, Ruth Finkelstein tells New York Times

The New York Times quoted Brookdale executive director Ruth Finkelstein in a January 14 article about older adults’ frustrations in trying to get appointments to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in New York City. The multiple sign-up systems are confusing, writes reporter Sharon Otterman, and outreach to those most at risk was not well organized. “There is a big aging services network whose remit is to reach the poorest, oldest, least capacitated people,” said Dr. Finkelstein. “But those agencies have not been central to the distribution strategy.”

The article was featured on TV station NY1’s “In the News” segment on January 15.
