Ribbon – A Center of Excellence invites providers and peers across the HIV and aging field to explore that reflection together. Redefining Care: Rethinking Care Across the Lifespan is a two-part training series built for those doing the daily work of connection — clinicians, case managers, educators, and community health professionals alike. Together, the sessions offer space to consider the perspectives that shape practice, and to build the communication skills that turn good intentions into genuine trust.
The first session in the series will be presented on September 10, 2026 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. EDT by Brookdale’s executive director Dr. Mark Brennan Ing, and is entitled: Beyond Awareness: Addressing Internalized Ageism in Practice. The session will explore how bias doesn’t announce itself — it operates quietly, often shaping decisions before we’re aware we’re making them. Dr. Brennan Ing will bring decades of research on aging and HIV to this candid look at internalized ageism, offering providers a clear, actionable strategy for more equitable, person-centered care.
