Brookdale and ACRIA @ GMHC host HIV & aging conference

On June 5, the Brookdale Center for Healthy Aging at Hunter College and the ACRIA Center at GMHC welcomed 165 attendees to a conference focused on HIV and Aging at Hunter’s main campus, titled “I’m Still Standing.” The program featured a fireside chat with Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, chief medical director at Callen-Lorde, and peer educator Victoria Graves from GMHC. This year’s conference focused on older women with HIV, who make up over one-quarter of this population over the age of 50. Dr. Jasmine Manalel, senior research associate at Brookdale, presented work on her ongoing CROWN study. The conference concluded with a panel discussing emerging issues on adults age 50 and older with HIV.
