Brookdale research associate Yiyi Wu delivered two poster presentations at the 2023 Annual Meeting of the American Society on Aging conference from March 27–30 in Atlanta, Georgia. In the poster titled “What Influences Older Adults’ Responses to Public Health Messages during COVID-19 and Beyond? A Qualitative Study,” Yiyi discussed how to improve health communication strategies targeting the older population and stressed the importance of engaging older adults as leaders to disseminate messages in their own communities. A companion article is published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
The other poster was titled “Older Adults’ Experiences with Using Information and Communication Technology and Tech Support Services in New York City: Findings and Recommendations for Post-Pandemic Digital Pedagogy for Older Adults.” In this presentation, Yiyi demonstrated the barriers and facilitators to older adults’ effective usage of technology support services during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond. The accompanying paper was published in Frontiers in Psychology: Human-Media Interaction.
