Brookdale researcher presents at Gerontological Society of America conference

Jasmine Manalel, a senior research associate at Brookdale, gave two presentations at the 2022 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America, which took place November 2–6 in Indianapolis. In a symposium titled “Generational Transmission of Social Relations: Findings from Multiple U.S. Longitudinal Studies,” Dr. Manalel presented findings from her dissertation. That paper, “Development of Social Convoys: Trajectories of Convoy Structure and Composition from Childhood Through Adulthood,” is published in Developmental Psychology. In another symposium, “Factors That Impact Successful Aging Among Older Adults Living with HIV/AIDS,” she presented preliminary findings from a project she is currently developing: “Support needs and resources of older women living with HIV.”

Dr. Manalel received two travel awards to fund her conference attendance: the Carol Schultz Travel Award, given by the Emerging Scholar and Professional Organization, and another award given by the Behavioral and Social Sciences Section.
