Peter Gosselin was a senior fellow at Brookdale in 2018-19. Gosselin, along with co-authors Ariana Tobin and Ranjani Chakraborty, won the 2019 Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business & Financial Journalism in the category of beat reporting. The series, published by ProPublica and Vox, investigated age discrimination in the workplace. See “Cutting Old Heads at IBM.”
Peter Gosselin and the Urban Institute’s Rich Johnson collaborated on “How Secure Is Employment at Older Ages?” This study demonstrated that more than half of long-term workers over 50 who “retire” do so against their will. The study also found that workers who lose their jobs after age 50 remain unemployed for longer than any other age group. These findings also appeared in an article on ProPublica.
