Brookdale staff members gave several presentations at the 47th Annual Conference of the State Society on Aging of New York, which took place October 29-30, 2019, in Saratoga Springs.

González-Rivera also moderated a symposium on age discrimination in the workplace with Brookdale executive director Ruth Finkelstein; Brookdale senior fellow Peter Gosselin; Beth Finkel, the New York state director for AARP; and Maria Heidkamp, the director of program development and technical assistance at the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development at Rutgers University.
Senior researcher Mark Brennan-Ing gave a presentation on successful aging among transgender and gender nonconforming older adults. Dr. Brennan-Ing and Dr. Finkelstein also delivered the featured Walter M. Beattie symposium on cumulative advantage and disadvantage, as a lens for understanding health and economic inequality at later ages. Research coordinator Jennie Kaufman joined Dr. Finkelstein to present Brookdale’s Student-Older Adult Roommates (SOAR) demonstration program.
